"Help me use my voice and experiences to make the difference our

                             younger generations need."- Janae Deleon

Janae Deleon began competing as a contestant of the Miss America Organization at a local level in

2008. The first pageant she competed in was Miss Homestead. Janae entered the pageant because it had been something the 'older girls' in her community had done since as far as she could remember. Plus, there was a separate two-year scholarship to Miami Dade College. Janae won the scholarship prize and also took home the title of Miss Homestead 2008. Unbeknownst to her, the Miss Florida Pageant was the next step, and she could possibly be in the running to become Miss America. She was embarking on a journey that would change her life in the best ways she could imagine.

Janae has held the titles of Miss Homestead 2008, Miss Heart of Central Florida 2009, Miss Boca Raton 2012, and Miss Miami 2013. While holding these various titles, she received an award from Miami Dade County on her outstanding community service efforts and has been the leader of numerous fundraising and charity event efforts. Such events have raised money for the Children's Miracle Network when she established 'Pocket Full of Miracles," a Montessori school change drive. She has collected truck-loads of toys for homeless children during the winter holidays and has aided troops across seas by sending care packages completely donated by children and Miami Dade residents. She has also been a Quality of Life finalist at the Miss Florida Pageant and will be receiving a Duke of Edinburgh award this summer.

Janae is grateful for the wonderful opportunities she has been given. The lessons learned during her reign have been invaluable. She says the Miss America Organization has shaped and molded her into the accomplished young woman she has always wanted to be.
